Duplicate Publication
Catalyst Research Chronicles (CRC Journal) considers only original content for publication. Articles must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere, including in any other language. If related materials are currently under consideration or in press elsewhere, authors must disclose this in their cover letter.
If authors have used their own previously published work, or work currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they must cite the prior articles and clarify how the new manuscript differs from their previous work. Whether or not such materials are published is at the discretion of the Editor. Reusing figures or substantial portions of text from the authors’ own work may require permission from the copyright holder, and authors are responsible for obtaining this permission.
Catalyst Research Chronicles (CRC Journal) will consider the following exceptions if clearly justified at the time of submission:
★ Preprint Servers:
Posting a manuscript on a preprint server or an author’s personal or institutional website does not constitute previous publication. Please refer to our Preprint Policy for further details.
★ Theses:
A PhD or other academic thesis, including those publicly available according to institutional requirements, is not considered duplicate publication.
★ Conference Abstracts/Posters:
Publication of meeting abstracts or posters prior to the full manuscript submission is permitted. Authors should cite these abstracts in the manuscript and refer to them in the cover letter.
★ Datasets:
Making scientific datasets publicly available prior to manuscript submission will not preclude consideration by Catalyst Research Chronicles (CRC Journal). As more research funding agencies require data sharing, CRC Journals encourages this practice.
★ Summary of Clinical Trial Results in Public Registries:
Posting summary clinical trial results in publicly accessible databases is generally not regarded as duplicate publication. Authors reporting clinical trials must register their trial in an accessible registry (see Registration of Clinical Trials for more information).
★ Translations:
Manuscripts translated from an original publication in a different language may be published at the Editor’s discretion. The original publisher must grant appropriate permission, and the material must be clearly indicated as a translation, published under a CC BY license, with the original source acknowledged.
If a manuscript is published and later identified as a duplicate, the editor will refer to the COPE flowcharts and collaborate with the publisher to retract the redundant paper.
